I have an 2002 Cavalier and the fan control only works on the two highest settings. Also, the rear window defogger quit working. Both quit working about the same time. I already replaced the control box in the dash thinking that was it, but still have the same issue. Any ideas?

the blower resistor attached to the heater blower case under the glove box is the problem for the fan speeds, they go bad all the time.its pretty easy to replace it if you have a flexible entension. Its trickier if you dont.

the rear defogger problem is probably a burned connector which is located at the A-pillar, which is on the left side (drivers) kick panel.remove the step plate by pulling it up on it,it has clips that snap into the floor. The connector youre looking for is at the lower part of the dash board but not on the dash but the floor board. Then look for a larger wire 12 or 14 gauge that goes to a white connector.on one side of the connector the wire will be black and on the other side it will be purple, and look at the connector and I will bet that it will be melted or burned.dont try to repair the connector, just cut the wire off one side of the connector and jumper it to the other. Its an easty 10 minute fix

Check all of the fuses first for the defogger problem. The fan control problem is classic bad relay or switch.
