I've recently got in an accident when my car steering went out on a highway doing about 70/75. I filed a report and apparently there are a lot of recalls on my car I didn't know about, including the steering. I ended up running off the road and crashed into a ditch sideways and it broke my front axle and bent the frame. It's going to cost thousands but the Chevy retailer has asked me what happened and knows it wasn't my fault. Will they help fix it or what? Thanks. It's a 2008 Chevy cobalt LT 4-door sedan.

The steering system recall and the ignition switch recall are the most two recalls, you should have received the recalls notice already.

Since your vehicle has involved in an accident I would contact with a lawyer specialize about the matter. I have included a link that listed the two recalls and all information that you'll need.

This link may help since this firm is specialized about the massive GM recalls:

Since it's a massive recall GM is 100% liable. I listened to the congressional hearing of GM's CEO. What i've learned is GM's technicians and engineers KNEW about the faulty issues with the GM vehicle models like your Cobalt yet they never said anything when it came to final inspections and the cars were shipped to dealerships. So there were several deaths with the Cobalt and other models due to those faulty issues. Only NOW GM is trying to deal with it. So yes, you won't pay a dime. It's a MASSIVE recall and you should deal with this issue or RISK death on the road of yourself and possibly other innocent drivers you may affect.

GM will most likely cover it. I got a few recall letters from my dealership and they replaced everything that was defective. Since there is so much going on with the recalls the past couple of months GM will be more likely to cover the damages. I suprised your car didn't just get totaled out, if there was that much damage to it. But, seeing as the power steering and brakes going out is two of the main problems that has been reported and caused more that one death it will be more likely they will cover it.

Why are you asking this on here????? Call a lawyer!!!! Be prepared to pony up some big bucks though!!!!! And good luck on that since your lawyer will keep most of the money if you should win & you may barely have enough to fix your car

Also, GM doesnt have to fix your car due to the accident. First you have to prove the recall items caused you to wreck, GM just doesnt pony up & pay out every claim they get sent since I am pretty sure there are morons out there running scams & cons all the time. Trust me, no company will ever admit its thier fault & just pay out the money. You have to prove it

Do you not have insurance? That is your first line of defense. Let the insurance company deal with the wreck. Get the recall items fixed when you receive the notice. Then get your driving record cleared.

To Tony of the getting shocked to death answer: Where the eff did you get that "fact"? You are so full of sh!t.

Gotta love the internet lawyers. You need to prove certain things, GM isn't just going to fix your damaged vehicle. Talk to a lawyer, not Yahoo Answers.

Give GM a chance to correct the problem before you contact a ambulance chaser of an attorney.

Yeah they recalled them because the ignition was killing people by shocking them to death wen they went to start it. Same with the Pontiac G5's. They got recalled too.
