I have a 1997 Chevy Cavalier 2-door base model with the 2.2L OHV engine. This car came without cruise control. My question is, was this particular feature available as an optional feature for the base modal or was it only optional or standard for the sport modal? Mine has a fuse slot for the CC, since it's obviously the same fuse box in all modals. I have a 2.4L OHC model for parts. I found the CC unit which is mounted on the firewall panel and has an extra cable running to the throttle body. My 2.2L has the mounting for the unit but not sure how much room there is in between my motor and firewall. I'm looking to see if the system can be installed to the working 2.2L In this case, I'd have to replace my existing turn signal switch with the one from the 2.4L which has the controls added to it. However, which harness would have to be replaced in order to hook the unit up and in the end, will the extra cable fit the throttle which is on the back of the 2.2L motor as opposed to the 2.4L having it on the front? I also have a cable running to the transmission from the throttle, but not on the other car and don't know if that's for passing gear or what. Is the 2.2 OHV compatible with the CC? Does the CC unit plug into the computer?

You could have one installed but it proably wouldn't be worth it.

You are not going to get that type of detail on here. Your best bet is either to get a set of shop manuals for the car or join a Cavalier Forum where there are people that have access to information like that.
