Question:
What is more lame? Corvettes or the lame-o's that drive em?

Can you name any other "sports car" that is virtually worthless after 15 years? Don' t come at me with the 924...we ALL know that is junk. The Corvette has got to be the worst built piece of crap to call itself a sports car! Big engine, fiberglass body (oh sorry composite), rubbermaid interior, crap for holding value, and a complete waste of money. Do you get a free mullet when you drive off the lot with one of those?

sounds like someone wants a Yaris or an FJ Looser. somehow the Corvette is the best sports car in the world (beating out Porshe), the only true American sports car (and Ford keeps pretending with the piece of **** Mustang, and Chryslers Crossfire dosent even get noticed)

I couldn't have a mullet even if I wanted one and going zero to 60 in less than 5 seconds with the roof off on a nice day is pretty amazing. In fact I do it regularly. All cars depreciate, the 1990 you are looking at probably has 150,000 miles or more on the clock and a lot of wear and/or mechanical problems which can be expected with any 15 year old car that has been driven regularly. Anyone will tell you that KBB often understates values. Look up a 1996 corvette grand sport corvette in your KBB. Then go online and see that 10 years later many grand sports are selling around or above MSRP. You can show me a beat up corvette that has depreciated a lot and I can show you one that never depreciated in the first place. If you spent any time in a corvette you would see that the interior is very functional, the leather seats are nice and comfortable, you sit low and feel like a part of the car. It doesn't have a lot of interior options but most of us buy a corvette for its raw performance and stunning looks not things like seat warmers or a perfectly laid out fake wood accented interior. A well maintained vette kept nice with lower miles will eventually appreciate, there is a well established market and thousands and thousands of enthusiasts of the car worldwide supporting long-term value. On average, how many cars are around enough to actually appreciate? And how many cars actually do appreciate?

well.....you may want to reconsider your notions based upon facts.

1) The vette is fast, and correctly optioned, e.g. Z51 package and six speed will run away from any other car in it's price range. The new Z06....runs away from cars costing $100,000 dollars more expensive.

2) The combination of the advanced traction control and electronics that step in and assist the driver to regain control when crossing over the line...not to mention the heads up display that lets you see speed and tach without looking inside the cars as it it displayed on the windshield although it looks like it is hung in air over your right fender..are life saving and state of the art.

3) The car is one of three american style sports cars. meaning two seats and V8 power made in the USA. The Viper and the Ford GT....great cars but much pricier.

4) If you have $50 grand for a new vette or $25-30 grand for a recent used vette you have little competing choice.

German - M version of their two seater....nice enough....not as fast or as american....straight 6......not the same. MB and Audi....nothing close.

Japanese - The Z is not a match although a nice car. no other company sells a high performance two seat sports car....sorry the mazda miata is nice,,,,but not a match....Honds s2000...nice car but sorry not a match for the vette...

Quality - you are correctin this as I must say it lags behind the japanese and Germans....little problems cosmetic in nature. But spped costs.....and the car is twenty five thousanfd dollars less than another car which might give it a run for the flag. Oh yeah...the hatchback and storage let you use the car as a little station wagon...very practical.

The Mullet.....not every vette driver has a mullet at least not on the left coast here in SoCal.....owner - 2002 corvette Z51 six speed with heads up display.

Consider how cheap they are to begin with. Plus, the vette plant is constantly working at capacity to keep up with demand. Thus, there are quite a few used ones on the market. Obviously, the build quallity on the old ones wasn't the greatest, but they had looks and performance (unless you're talking about the lame 350s from the late 70's). Still, when you get old corvettes that get up into the 6-digit range, that's quite a bit of value if you order the right packages. I can only imagine what the brand new Z06 will be worth in 25 years.

Well, Im not a huge fan of Corvettes, but thats just personal preference, they are really nice looking, fast cars, so I dont know why you'd come down on them like that. And there are a lot of sports cars that have been nearly worthless 15 years later, The previously mentioned Fiero's, Kharmann Ghias, MG's, Triumphs, old Miatas (if they count), older Z3's are becoming pretty cheap, etc. I may be a Porsche guy, but I dont disrespect the all American power of the Vette. Plus, its pretty funny when you see those old dudes driving around in them hoping to pick up young women.

I will agree with you on one point...corvettes are belly button cars (everyone has one). But to say they are cheap and lose value after 15 years??? The only corvettes that were horrible were the c4's...other than that they are all worth quite a bit more than their purchase price...you want an example...look up the value on a 63 vette...split window...you could buy yourself a good house for what that car is worth.

I admit..most guys who drive vettes are douches...they think their c4 or stock c5 is just as fast as the new Z06...most are idiots..but the same can be said about ANY car on the road...idiots drive civics, explorers, beetles...What I think is lame is your question.

tell me how many porsche and imports that you can find around after 50+ years of being driven. there are more corvettes on the road today and worth more money than they were sold for new. also, just think about the jags and mgbs as far as worthless... also how about the nissan z's..the 80's models are as worthless as they can get...at least a corvette still has a book of 8000 while the z's don't hold that in the same condition... :-?

i do no longer think of it is lame or fantastic. i did no longer get my license till i replaced into 21. i did no longer % a automobile (nor could desire to I handle to pay for a automobile, gas and insurance in the previous then) considering that I had get admission to to public transportation. I nevertheless hate applying. i'm no longer afraid of it yet i could somewhat be a passenger. If I have been wealthy i could completely have a chauffeur. My little sister replaced into afraid tochronic. i replaced into the single that taught her. I made her practice applying in cemeteries in the process the day (because of the fact they have properly maintained roads with out site visitors) and procuring mall parking lots at evening. Her rigidity and worry lessened the extra she drove notably whilst she did no longer could desire to stress approximately different drivers.

Hi. I've owned 3 Corvettes (1993, 2001, and 1979). They were all fine automobiles and I sold them each for more than I paid for them. I happen to like big engines, fiberglass bodies, going extremely fast, and all the looks, stares, and compliments I got with all of my cars. Thank you. Have a nice day. Go buy a Honda Civic.

Since you DON'T know much about Corvettes, I will enlighten you. They are cheapest at around 10 years old, and from that point on, they begin to INCREASE in value. I have been watching prices for many years, and I know you are full of it. WHAT? you know what.

The lam-o's that drive them.....

Hey you got a good point there.

But its not a sport car or a sport truck, a 1969, Ford 2 Ton Flat bed. Why, 'cause it is hard to find those types of windows, that are classics let me remind you, any where, unless u have that same make sitting in your back yard, plus its even harder to find a good working, and used , rear drive line for it.

That is simple, for the most part anyone old enough to afford a Vette is too old to drive it correctly.
