Fuel performance in a Chevy Silverado?

I have a 99 Chevy Silverado 1500 V8 5.3 L Ext Cab 4WD
It's the new body style, not the old

I just bought it with a few modifications

It has a K&N Cold Air Intake
Edelbrock Performance Headers
Throttle Body Spacer
Performance Power Tuner
Magnaflow Complete Exhaust Kit
Fuel Injector things
And I run at least 93 or higher octane fuel in the truck

To my understanding, these things should slightly increase my gas mileage

I'm consistently getting 13 MPG

I had a 2003 Silverado, with no mods, but it got 17 MPG

What's going on with my truck?
I know for a fact that the K&N Air Filter is dirty, it looks disgusting, so I know it's dirty. I'm working on figuring out how to clean it or replace it.
The guy I bought it from used to run it through the mud a lot, I dunno if
that helps

Is my truck a piece of crap? Or do things just need to be cleaned?

Help me out!
I'll choose a best answer!
Thanks

Your Fuel mileage for your truck stock should be 13mpg city and 16mpg highway with an average of 15mpg.

You should never have to throw away a K&N air filter they are life time air filter. Do you know for a fact its a K&N air filter because Frams are orange and K&N are red. Frams are just cheap pieces of **** paper well K&N are cotton. You can buy K&N recharge kits for your air filter on summit racing and i will provide the right page for you.

If you want to increase you mileage even more remove your spare tire and replace your battery for a lighter more durable one.

Now that i think of it your spark plugs play a roll in mpg so replace them for a higher quality spark plug set.

Check your tire pressure. Make sure its at the right setting anything less will result in low mileage.

Check if your intake or exhaust is freeing up. This will play a roll in your mpg.

Anything that will make your truck lighter the better.

Finally you cant really compare an older truck to a newer one since fuel mileage is always getter better as the years go past.

My 1981 Camaro has 435hp and gets 14-17mpg about the same as your truck and you have lower gears than my car too.

Also not true there are performance mods that increase horsepower and fuel mpg like an Edelbrock Performer kit.

I hate to bust your bubble, yet distinctly much not one of the so noted as bolt on enhancers do as much as is declared they do. in case you strengthen the overall performance of the motor vehicle then there's achieveable the gasoline financial device will go through. additionally, try to be careful, with the aid of fact the numerous upload on enhancement products are no longer allowed in some states with the aid of fact they do no longer seem to be emissions criminal. something wanting doing a splash significant engine remodeling will make the v-6 on your truck become a hearth respiratory monster. Hauling your 2 ton truck around is rather a job on your six cylinder. don't be sucked in to procuring numerous after industry products that are no longer going to do what you elect. sturdy success.

Performance power tuner, fuel injector things?

Performance mods are just that..performance..more power, run faster...

more power, run faster....= lower gas mileage

Probably nothing wrong with your truck...the mods just aren't designed to do what you want....
