Ok I have a 83' or 85' Caprice that im trying to get painted by someone at my church who works in body and detail/paint work. My car is gray with small almost like fine glitter type sparkles to it, and since i cant read the VIN Number on any of the places that there is one; he told me to try and find him a car that had the same color as it. I was planning on taking a picture of it,but honestly if the contrast is off even a little bit it might show the car as a different color so thus why ive come to yahoo.
Can anyone help me out?

The paint code is not going to be in the VIN, but there should be a sticker in the glove box or under the trunk lid where it will be located. If the color you want is the original paint on the car, the code should be correct. But any GM model for the sam year of car should also have that paint as an option. Check the Buick LeSabre, Olds Delta 88 and 98 Regency, Pontiac Parisianne and Bonneville.

Which is it...an 83 or an 85? The paints available changed slightly from year to year.

What you need is to go onto ppg or dupont auto paint web site and look up the color, or even call them and ask, there will be some tech info to help you out, your painter should have known this
