URGENT HELP!!!!! My keys are stuck in the ignition of my car!?

Question

Ok, it's not really my car it's my step dads... It's a 2007 Chevy Impala... The keys are stuck in the ignition, the cars battery is dead and has been for a few weeks. I don't know why, but I tried to see if it would cut on and of course it didn't. So now they key wont come out of the ignition!!

What can I do?!?!

Don't ask me why it does but if the battery is dead the key will not release in these cars. Get a jump box or cables and jump the car once it has a little bit of power it will release the keys.

Is your Impy anything like an '07 Cobalt? If so, look underneath your ignition unit and see if there's something that looks like a plastic bit that can pop off/open.



If you see it, try to pop it - it should come open fairly easily. Inside should be a magic white button. Press it, and the key should release.

Okay this has happened to me before! jiggle and turn the wheel side to side just a little bit as you try to get the keys out.

ok the smart thing to do is get jumper-cables and and get the battery running and drive to a mechanic real quick

your going to have to replace the key and tumbler. no other way sorry
