There are may things that can cause a misfire. I think that a 97 5.7 liter engine has throttle body fuel injection. That means that there are two fuel injectors at the throtle body on top of the motor. If I an right than you will be able to take the air filter off your engine and watch them spray fuel into the engine. If you have throttle body fuel injection than the fuel injector would not cause a misfire in only one cylinder. I would start by checking for a foweled spark plug or a bad plug wire.

Your truck is not throttle body injected, it is a vortec 350, with 8 injectors. Throttle bodies were only used from 88 to 95 and then they started the vortecs in 96. A misfire has nothing to do with fuel, it has to do with your ignition system. You might try to replace the sparkplugs, plug wires and cap and rotor if it hasnt been done. That is easy to do and should fix your problem.

the misfire codes are more directed towards the spark plug wires. try doing a tune up( spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor)
